Ex-Bears QB Griese headed back to Tampa Bay
Football Betting Lines
03/03/2008 -
Chicago, IL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Chicago Bears have reportedly eliminated
one of their options at quarterback, sending Brian Griese to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a late-round draft choice.
According to the Chicago Tribune, the deal will save the Bears a $300,000
bonus due to Griese on Tuesday, as the Bucs will assume the quarterback's
contract.
Griese, who spent the 2004 and 2005 seasons with Tampa Bay, completed 161-
of-262 passes for 1,803 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2007, his second season
with the Bears. The Michigan product was intercepted 12 times in his six
starts, however, and never fully seized the starting job from embattled
incumbent Rex Grossman.
In 10 NFL seasons with the Broncos, Dolphins, Bucs and Bears, Griese has
thrown for 18,367 yards and 114 touchdowns while being picked off 92 times. He
started 15 games for Denver in 2001, but hasn't started more than 10 games in
a campaign since.

Kurt Warner to start, Matt Leinart to watch
Despite the debate that's swirling , Kurt Warner will remain the starting quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals, coach Dennis Green said today. The Arizona Cardinals are the +7 point underdog at online sportsbook MySportsbook.com for this Sunday's game.
Green's comment came in a statement released by the team following an ESPN report that Green decided that rookie Matt Leinart would replace Warner as starter for Sunday's game at Atlanta.
"Generally talking about the starting lineup is not something we do," Green told the AP. "However, given the speculation that was out there we want to make it clear. We're disappointed after last week, but we still expect to be a playoff football team and we fully expect Kurt Warner to be the quarterback that leads us. That has not changed."
